The City of Weymouth was founded in 1635 as a town and is located in Norfolk County. Although a city government, the community wishes to be known as “The Town of Weymouth”.
Weymouth is known as the second oldest town in Massachusetts and was where the first town meeting took place.
Today the town is a quiet residential suburban community that offers many recreational activities and an extensive water safety program which includes swimming lessons at Wessagusset Beach and at Whitman’s Pond.
